SKILLS, Inc. provides a number of day habilitation services located in the Pittsfield, Skowhegan and Waterville areas. These programs are open between 8AM and 2PM, Monday through Friday. Transportation can often be arranged either through SKILLS, Inc. or Kennebec Valley Community Action Program (KVCAP).
The L.C.Dill Center is a Community Support Day Program that offers a variety of opportunities to improve lives and encourage independence and individuality. Daily activities include nutrition and cooking skills, budgeting and money recognition, health and fitness, and safety workshops for people at all skill levels.
We have a very active Special Olympic Team that is involved in Winter Games, basketball, swimming, golf and Summer Games. Athletes train throughout the year. Special Olympics Maine has a beautiful summer camp in Poland, ME, where many people who attend the Dill Center have the opportunity to spend a relaxing week enjoying lakeside fun.
From September to May we offer monthly Friday evening dances in our gymnasium. Often there is a live band. We also coordinate day trips to area events including local fairs, sporting events and shopping centers.
We teach employment skills and provide opportunities for volunteer work throughout the community. Currently we volunteer for Meals on Wheels and at a local nursing home. We work as a team to set goals and reach for the stars.
Ervin Community Supports
Ervin Community Supports is a community-based day program that promotes independence and offers opportunities for learning and community engagement with the goal of building life skills. We provide workshops in reading and writing, hygiene, money management, cooking, and building healthy relationships.
We encourage the people we support to participate in Special Olympic Events. We also encourage volunteerism. Our group helps out at the local library, at the community luncheon for a local church, at the Habitat for Humanity Store in Waterville, and at the Humane Society.
Central Maine Community Supports
Central Maine Community Supports is a program designed to provide occupational, physical, and speech therapies to people with significant disabilities. We provide people with opportunities to access their community, as well as to work on developing basic life skills.
Services are tailored to meet the unique preferences of the individual, utilizing a team approach to understand what individual needs are, and how to accomplish them.
The overall goal of Central Maine Community Supports is to enhance the quality of life for the people we serve.
Pittsfield Community and Senior Supports (PCSS)
Pittsfield Community and Senior Supports is a program for adults with intellectual disabilities. This program started when Pittsfield Community Supports and The Senior Enrichment Program were combined in 2015. We offer a variety of activities to help people maintain and enhance personal development, social skills, health and safety skills, banking and budgeting skills, and nutrition skills.
We empower the graceful aging of our elders by promoting independence, encouraging community inclusion, recreation and leisure time activities, health maintenance and improvement, community connections, social and emotional support, physical fitness activities and exercise for all levels.
We volunteer within our community, participating in the Meals on Wheels program twice a week. We have a seasonal garden where we grow vegetables to donate to local food cupboards and flowers to donate to local banks in the community.
PCSS offers a variety of clubs: reading, cooking, exercise, garden, spa activities, creative projects, and the memorial park management club. Music Jam is offered every Tuesday at 10am at the PCSS location. Twice during the month our musicians travel and play music at two other locations within the agency.
